Challenge and Support
Swinford Church of England Primary School provides a broad and ambitious curriculum for all children. When planning, teachers set suitable learning challenges and respond to children’s diverse learning needs.
Some children have barriers to learning that mean they have special educational needs and require particular action by the school.
Teachers take account of these requirements and make provision, where necessary, to support individuals or groups of children and thus enable them to participate effectively in curriculum and assessment activities.
Children may have special educational needs throughout or at any time during their school life.
All children have abilities, qualities and talents which parent/carers and teachers need to identify, nurture and develop. At Swinford Church of England Primary School, we are committed to giving each child every opportunity to develop their individual talents to the full.
Every child is entitled to receive an education appropriate to their ability and needs. Both the content of the work and the level at which the children are working must be suitable, so that each individual has the opportunity to make the greatest progress possible.
We recognise that a child who is very able in a particular area will be capable of working at a significantly higher cognitive level than their peers and that work needs to be set accordingly.
